Dear League Coaches,
Thank you for joining our 2010-2011 NW Sports Boys Basketball Winter League. We are expecting to have a
great season. We have separated the teams into Div 1 and Div 2, but there is some cross play so we
combined the schedules.
Cancellations: Any games cancelled due to school closures caused by weather or anything beyond our control, we will not be able to make them up.
Directions: The schedule and directions to facilities are on our web site at www.pnaau.org.
Standings: As long as coaches reports scores we will have the standings posted at the same web site. The winning team is
responsible to email the scores to us at nwsports@pnaau.org before Monday so we can post them. Please include your
division in the email.
Schedule: Please check the schedule carefully. We tried to schedule your games as close to home as possible but this is not
a YMCA league and you will need to do some traveling. Due to an odd number of teams in some divisions and special requests
by other teams there are some weeks where you could have two games and none a different week.
Roster:
* You must turn in your roster before your first game. All players and coaches must have AAU numbers.
* If your roster is not turned in with ALL AAU numbers before the 3rd week of the schedule your games will be forfeited and
we will NOT reverse the forfeits. – If you don’t have your official roster back to you – WE DON’T HAVE IT!!!
* An official scoresheet/roster will be emailed back to you, and you must submit a copy to the scorekeeper at each game.
Only coaches and players that are on this roster and are marked as having AAU cards will be eligible. Note: you forfeit a game
if you play with an illegal player (players not on your roster.) Note: the other coach has the right to ask the gym manager or
scorekeeper to verify the players on your roster.
* After your 2nd week you will need permission from the league director, Mike Connors, to add a player to your roster.
* No player can play without being on the roster that is turned in to the league director.
* A player is committed for the entire Winter League to the first team they play a game for. No exceptions to this rule. A
player may play on more that one team but only one team in the same division. As an example, he may only play on one 5th
grade team. Also, if he is on two teams they must be in the same club. Should they play on a second team in the same
division all games they participated in will be forfeited. It is the responsibility of the team to notify the league director at once if
they are told, find out, or suspect that they have a player that is playing on two teams in one division. You must stop playing the
player immediately. If you don’t stop without delay the coach will not be able to coach in a NW Sports AAU event for one year.
No-Shows: If you forfeit a game by not showing up it will be up to your opponent which one of your future games they will play
to make it up. If you miss a second game without giving notice you will be suspended from playing in any AAU NW Sports
leagues or tournaments for one year.
League Tournament: The league tournament will be open to all teams that play in the league. You must confirm that you will
be playing by Feb. 13th or you will not be scheduled and we won’t be able to add your team. In as many age groups as
possible, we will have Div 1 and Div 2 playoffs.
The League will play using High School Federation rules with the following exceptions:
1. Game time will consist of:
4th, 5th & 6th Grade divisions will have 7 minute quarters with stop clock
All others divisions will have 8 minute quarters with stop clock
2. All technicals are automatic 2 points and the ball.
3. All intentional fouls, no matter where they happen, will be automatic 2 points.
4. Two technical fouls per person and you are out of the gym for the remainder of the day. If this happens twice in one season
the individual will be suspended from this league.
5. Coaches are responsible for the conduct of their fans and players.
6. The women’s ball will be used for the 4th, 5th & 6th grades.
7. 20 point Mercy Rule, if one team is ahead by 20 points or more in the fourth quarter the clock will not be stopped except for
free throws or if the gap goes below 20 points.
8. NO ZONE DEFENSE IN THE 4TH GRADE DIVISION, YOU MUST PLAY MAN-TO-MAN.
Sincerely,
Mike Connors
