The 2011 NW Sports AAU Boys Basketball Spring League will begin on March 26th.  The Spring Basketball League is usually the largest league we have in the Pacific Northwest district.   Last year there were over 150 teams in the league.  We expect to have that many again this year.  The regular season for the league will have eight games spread over five weeks.   Generally, teams will play two games each week for four of the five weeks.   Teams can request one of the weekends off.

Don’t miss out on the league, the deadline to enter is Monday, March 14th. We plan to have each grade divided into 2 divisions: Div 1 (stronger) and Div 2.  There could be some cross over between divisions so that we can avoid teams playing each other twice in the league.   Games will be played on the Eastside, Seattle, Federal Way and Tacoma.    This is not a rec league and teams do have to travel but we try to keep them close to home as much as possible.   We have teams that are making the trek over the mountains from eastern Washington or up from Portland so that they can experience the tougher competition that western Washington affords them.

The league tournament will be the weekend of May 7th & 8th.   The tournament has a single elimination format and is seeded, much like March Madness where the stronger teams will go against the weaker teams in the first round.  The divisions will have two tournaments, the Division 1 and Division 2 sections.  To be in good standing a team must have all their fees paid, they must have turned in a complete roster and they must not have forfeited games without notifying the office in advance.  In order to avoid forfeits in the tournament all teams must notify us of their intent to play.

It is a testament to the quality of the league that the number of teams is increasing each year.
