We are fortunate in the Pacific NW AAU to have several different boys and girls basketball leagues available to teams.  Because of the strength of the different leagues it is not unusual for teams to travel for quite a distance to participate.  Each league will have a different emphasis and offer a different experience.  But in all the leagues, players must be AAU members.

Some of the leagues, like the Wesco League, are specifically geared as feeder programs for the high schools in their district.  Only teams that are in their district are eligible to enter.  Others leagues, like the NW Sports Leagues, are drawing on from teams from across the area.  The NW Sports Leagues have two divisions so the premiere teams can meet each other and get challenged and the less competitive teams can also challenge each other.  Generally, there are Fall, Winter and Spring basketball leagues.   Each league is different with some having two games a weekend and some having only one.

A lot of the players that play in the leagues are the ones that go on to play on their high school, college and professional teams.

It is always advised that you talk to teams that have entered different leagues to get a feel for the league.  Another suggestion is to take your team to one of the league games for a league that you are thinking of entering to see what kind of fit it would be for your team.  You should also talk to the league director and honestly evaluate your team to see if this is the right league for you.   But remember the goal is to support our youth in their maturing process and have a good time while you are doing it.
